Why You Need a Pair of Over The Knee Flat Boots
Are you a boot lover? Do you love ankle boots, knee boots, thigh high boots, over the knee boots? Boots are my favorite type of footwear. Boots can be worn year round and most of the time are more comfortable than heels.
Today I’m sharing my latest boots outfit and how to style a pair of over the knee flat boots.
Selecting the Best Over The Knee Flat Boots
Wearing over the knee boots can be a little difficult. You need to pay special attention to the balance of your outfit. You don’t want the boots to dominate your look, and you don’t want to come across as having loose sexual morals.
Over the knee boots immediately come across sexy and if that’s not the feeling you want to give off the best option is to go with a pair of over the knee flat boots.
Remove heel from a pair of over the knee boots and they instantly become easier to style and take down the sexiness a notch. Look for flat boots that have a 1″ stacked block heel. The boots I’m wearing in this post are just that.
The next important item you need to pay close attention to when searching for the perfect pair of over the knee flat boots is the material. Personally, I love suede boots. They are luxe, soft and subtle. They look classic and stylish rather than trendy and unchic.
Look for over the knee flat boots in rich leather or suede. Stay away from anything material that’s too shiny, it will make your outfit look cheap and cheap is not stylish.
The next detail to consider is the color. Black, dark brown, camel, light gray, charcoal are the best options. These neutral colors can be worn with a variety of outfits, and you never have to worry about them going out of style. If you’re investing in a pair of high-quality boots, it’s best to select a color that you would wear for longer than a year.
Lastly, when shopping for over the knee flat boots or over the knee boots, in general, you need to make sure it fits your calf. When shopping online you’ll see an option for width; this width is the calf circumference. There are three options, “N” for narrow, “M” for Medium, and “W” for wide. The “N” for the width that means that the calf circumference is between 12-13 inches. The “M” for the width that means that the calf circumference is between 14-16 inches. The “W” for the width that means that the calf circumference is 16 inches or more.
Measure the widest part of your calf and select a size that fits your calf comfortably. You don’t want it so tight that it’s hard to walk or so loose that the boots bunch up around your ankle.
Styling Over The Knee Flat Boots
I wore this boots outfit in the fall. I live in California so it’s not too cold and it’s the perfect time I can get away with wearing over the knee boots with a skirt and not wear leggings.
There are tons of ways you can style over the knee flat boots but today I’m going to focus on the outfit in this post and why it works so well.
I mentioned balance in the intro of this post, and when addressing balance in an outfit, you’re looking to see that nothing feels out of place.

The bottom half of this outfit is dominated by the boots. The boots are thick, heavy looking and cover up a good portion of my legs. To counteract the heaviness of the bottom half of the outfit, I went with an equally thick top but in a contrasting light color.
I wore a white long sleeve sweater instead of a dark burgundy or black to keep the outfit from looking too heavy. You don’t want to look like you’re being weighed down by your clothes.
Since the weather permitted, I paired the boots and sweater with a plaid mini skirt. The skirt is made of a thick, stiff fabric, and I intentionally went with a dark green color.
There are two points that I want to address with the skirt. First, is the length of the skirt. I made sure it was short enough to show some skin. You don’t want to wear a long skirt that goes all the way to the top of your boots because you’ll create a dowdy and frumpy outfit. The idea is to show skin in between to keep from looking short and stuffy.
The second point is the fabric of the skirt. It’s best to select a skirt in a thick fabric instead of silk or chiffon. In the fall and winter time wear knit, leather, suede, denim, or thick cotton skirts.
To complete this boots outfit, I added a forest green hat to match the dark green skirt and a structured blue handbag to add a bit of color.
